Sonja Sommer, second Managing Director of Vitreus GmbH alongside Joachim Grothe, will leave the company at the end of June 2022. The separation takes place by mutual agreement, after seven successful years Sonja Sommer wants to face new challenges.
Sonja Sommer, responsible for technology, production, purchasing and quality assurance, will leave the management of the engobes and glaze manufacturer. After seven successful years of company development and investments in infrastructure and machinery, Sonja Sommer had the right moment to devote herself to new challenges.
“We regret their decision and would like to take this opportunity to express our thanks for the good and successful cooperation. Simultaneous we wish her luck and success for their next tasks,” comments the Managing Partner Joachim Grothe the decision. Sonja Sommer is still active in the company until 30 June 2022 and then transfers her tasks to Joachim Grothe, who thus assumes sole responsibility for the company as managing partner.
On 01.11.2014 Sonja Sommer took up the task at the newly founded Vitreus GmbH as managing partner and was thus at the head of the engobes and glaze manufacturer for many years. Her time includes far-reaching investments in development and future viability of the company, for example the conversion of four production halls and the modernisation of machinery. Also the definition and optimization of internal procedures and processes has also made significant progress under her leadership. By this she made a significant contribution to Vitreus’ development into one of the most modern producers and thus number three on the European market.

Vitreus GmbH, one of the few independent, owner-managed medium-sized companies in the ceramics industry in northern Germany and has been active in the region since 2014. At the Seevetal site, Vitreus develops and produces glazes and engobes for the coarse ceramic industry with around 35 employees. Together with customers on site, international engineers develop tailor-made colour solutions for roof tiles and wall tiles. Customers are wall bricks and roof tile manufacturers all over the world.
